Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Al dente translates to "to the tooth" in Italian. It refers to cooking pasta until it's perfectly tender but still has a slight firmness in the center—not overcooked or mushy. Reserve some pasta water before draining.
  • While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until the garlic is fragrant and golden, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss well to coat it evenly with the garlic and olive oil mixture. If needed, add some pasta water to help create a creamy consistency.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  • Serve the pasta hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
  • Enjoy your homemade Pasta Aglio e Olio!
