  • 2 medium onions thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for onions
  • 1 tsp sugar optional, for onions
  • 1 large flatbread store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for brushing flatbread
  • 2 ripe pears thinly sliced
  • 4 oz goat cheese softened
  • Fresh arugula or crushed walnuts optional, for garnish

  • Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes). Add sugar for extra sweetness if desired.
  • Place the flatbread on the prepared baking sheet and brush with olive oil.
  • Spread the goat cheese evenly over the flatbread.
  • Top with caramelized onions and arrange the pear slices evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the flatbread is golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh arugula or crushed walnuts if desired.

Notes

Any Other Relevant Notes:
This flatbread pairs wonderfully with a crisp white wine or sparkling cider.
For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flatbread base.
Try adding a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra depth of flavor.
